NEW HERE

I’m calling this early.

Luxor is entering a new hospitality chapter.

The destination has always had the hard part: one of the world’s most extraordinary concentrations of history.

What has sometimes lagged behind is the breadth of contemporary hospitality around it.

That’s changing.

And the arrival of more luxury inventory has the potential to change how people travel Luxor entirely.

Instead of arriving, seeing the sites and moving on, travellers can stay longer.

Spa afternoon after Valley of the Kings.

Slow Nile breakfast.

Proper hotel day.

Another night because nobody wants to pack yet.

That’s good for hotels.

But it’s also good for the destination.

THE CURATOR SAYS: I’m ready for Luxor to become somewhere people travel to stay, not simply somewhere they travel to see.

Luxor is not just the hotel story. I'd build the visit around Karnak, Luxor Temple and a separate West Bank morning for the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut's temple. Properties that are merely announced should never be treated as bookable until their actual opening and reservations are confirmed.
